Soyquote sink (or simply quote sink) is a phenomenon on /soy/ where the majority of soyquote threads end up being concentrated in rows and especially at the center of the catalog, while quote-less threads stay just above them on the first few pages.
This can be seen at first-hand by any soyteen by opening the catalog search and doing a Ctrl+F for ">", then looking at the highlights on the scrollbar that indicate where on the catty arrows can be found.
Cause
What causes quote sink exactly is unknown, but it's most likely the fact that coal such as bait, meta threads, blogposts, and datamining threads simply receive more engagement and therefore more bumps on the catty.
Types
There are so far 2 different types of quotesink. The first kind is quoterows, where soyquotes form one solid or partially divided line on the catalog, and quotejumble where 'quotes form an irregular shape.
Solutions
- Use /jak/.
- Create soyquote threads that will get a good amount of replies.
- Make a high effort 'quote thread, since they will usually be necrobumped for hours by 'teens who appreciate gems.
