Cause of Death: Offsiting / Malding
The Soyteen Digest (also referred to as the 'zine or the 'gest) was user ran magazine started on January 6th, 2023. The intent of it was to present weekly events in an entertaining way. In the end, it was remembered for a sperg's shitfits more than it was for the weekly magazines.
Origins
The idea for the magazine began in a thread showing off the frenschan magazine. In response, soyteens began playing with the idea of making their own user generated magazine to one up the federal agent made frenschan magazine. In one of the follow up threads, a hypothetical cover[1] was made and uploaded to soybooru. The positive response prompted the teen to create the rest of the magazine[2] which would be uploaded to soybooru at a later point. The plan was a weekly magazine.
Controversy
After the first issue, the author now referred to as the 'zineteen, 'zineGod, shill, or retard began to look for a way to easily find help for the project moving forward. Against the advice of other soyteens, a Soyteen Digest discord server was created and made public to the whole sharty. It was quickly infiltrated, but because only a handful of users had the perms to type, it did not have any issues right away.
After a raid on /soy/ by Nick Avocado posters and a catalog wipe, the now Soyteen Digest team pumped out a "Emergency Edition". It was widely disliked by most of the soyteens, and gained the attraction of frogposters. The frogposters reposted images of the public discord in the thread, leading to people within the discord to go into autism fits in the thread. The chaos would culminate in 'p being posted into the thread and its destruction. The discord server was deleted with the author of the magazine making a public apology on /soy/. Zineteen would continue work on the Soyteen Digest in /g/. Despite the publication continuing forward in spite of the last issue's failure, this event would have lasting consequences.
Eventually the frogposters calmed their aggression towards to Soyteen Digest, but a former user of the Soyteen Digest Discord who is believed to have written the "With a Grain of Salt" article in the "Emergency Edition" felt slighted by the rapid deletion of the Discord Server. His fits of anger can be seen in every Soyteen Digest thread. While on /soy/ janitors are quick to clean up these Autistic outbursts, they can still be seen in the Soyteen Digest /g/ thread. /g/ is down.
Future of the Magazine
The author kept publishing with issues #2[3] and #3[4] which were meet mostly positively. Despite this, the author has made note that with a lack of help and time, the fate of the Soyteen Digest is uncertain. As of January 26th, 2023, there has been no word of its cancelation.
Post Mortem
As of 11/11/2023, the Soyteen Digest has had no follow ups. Some Chuds lament its destruction to this day, and it is frequently cited as an example in arguments against taking projects off-site.
