A bunker is an imageboard meant to serve as a temporary refuge for users of a bigger imageboard whose servers are currently down. In the past, 4chan used to have bunkers when it wasn’t as big as it is now, with sites like 8chan and 7chan serving as places where displaced oldfags could go to spam more shitty desu memes. Today, bunker sites are few and far between, but they still exist, such as some on places like endchan for sharty ‘teens. One could argue soyjak.party is a bunker for /qa/, even though this wasn't its intended purpose.
