Soy horror, also know as slow burn horror and soy burn horror, is a sub-genre of horror films characterised by a generally slow pace, a lack of jumpscares and graphic violence. Soy horror films eschew Paranormal themes and sudden rushes of adrenaline in favour of an boring escalating feeling of dread, uncertainty, disturbance and other gay shit. And they often involve mental illness and inner demons as the supposed "real horror", while abjuring supernatural elements. While films critics agree that the firts soy horror films appeared at some point in the 2000s, the genre has been recently popularised by American Internet "critics" which allege that these movies are "saving the cinema".

Since the mid to late 2010s, the soy horror genre has gained a significant following among soy boys, who have praised soy horror films for their supposed "intellectual facade" and shun jumpscares and slasher films because they're "cheap" and "infantile". However, it has been criticized by Chads and 'jakkers.
