The Great Purchase, also known as the July Revolution and the Great Sellout, among countless other names, refers to Yuri Kuznetsov's purchase and acquisition of soyjak.party from its founder and former owner Soot. The deal was made public between July 16 and July 17th, 2022 in a series of pinned Q&A threads. The deal also included the transfer of OnionsBooru to Kuz, but Soot retained ownership over the Soyjak Wiki under a new divorced address.

The last kuz appearance had been almost 5 months ago prior to this post.

Kuz cemeted the buyout an hour into his Q&A thread when he ceremoniously donned his admin capcode.[sic]

Background

Soot's retirement post

Kuz's activity in the soy community has been traced to as early as 2020. He had long wished to own the party and had entered purchase negotiations with Soot at least once before.

In 2022, Soot became preoccupied with real life commitments such as university and became notably absent from the party. He was largely criticized for his lack of activity. In his farewell Q&A, he claims "I haven’t been able to invest as much time as I would have hoped, and seeing the website in this state during my absence and neglect is nothing short of disheartening".

>Shortly after Kuz's purchase, some Soot-loyalists were wondering where to go. Some soyteens re-activated dead bunker boards or decided to try and turn this very wiki, which was still owned by Soot at the time, into bunker sites. A splinter site called Jakparty.soy was created immediately following the purchase specifically as an anti-Kuz imageboard, the site itself quickly became more dead than objectively better imageboards.

Splinter Sites

Shortly after Kuz's purchase, some Soot-loyalists were wondering where to go. Some soyteens re-activated dead bunker boards or decided to try and turn this very wiki, which was still owned by Soot at the time, into bunker sites. A splinter site called Jakparty.soy was created immediately following the purchase specifically as an anti-Kuz imageboard, the site itself quickly became more dead than objectively better imageboards. Two other websites, Frenschan and bStall quickly positioned themselves as anti-Kuz safe havens, but both sites later supported Kuz.
