It's artificial rarity is another aspect that lends much value to a gems and gives the ownership of gems status.


The link between gem and coal is not random as some people may think, gems are most of the time shown with a human made picture of a big shiny blue diamond. Diamonds are made of carbon and are created by extreme heat, pressure during long periods time. The fact that coal too is mostly made of carbon imply that even coal can become gem under specific condition, hard work and long time, and lets not forget that gems true quality and beauty is shown only after they are CUT and POLISHED. So your polishin can make it happen.

Diamonds can't turn into coal but can turn into dust.
