This page is Dust.

The /nate/ War 2, best known as The Dust Wars, was the resulting aftermath of the Great /nate/ War. It was mostly a perpetual cycle of anti-gooners wiping the catalog, and a baiter creating a new thread every time.

Prelude

See The /nate/ War

Beginning

With the previous two AGC victories, hype around the /nate/ War died down. The dynamics quickly changed to a lone gooner baiting the spammers.

The two main anti-gooners were Morgan Freeman and Babyposter. The main gooner was a baiter. After a week, it was apparent that /nate/ itself was dying.

Notable Events

Morgan Freeman tries to make the sticky lag by spamming spinning glowing copypastas with emojis included. This successfully shuts down the entire thread, until it all gets deleted by a janny the day after.

On April 3rd, Jartycuck posts links to /nate/ on /soy/ while spamming extreme bdsm with the phrase "List of things Soytan is built for". Never Goon Trump and an Oekaki spammer join back in.

On April 5th, Foot-fag and NuGayporn-fag wipe /nate/ with webms of gay porn. A soyteen makes a thread on /soy/ calling for a cattywipe. A spiderman poster and Never Goon Trump wipe the catty.

That same day, a mod locks the sticky, and posts a meme of SFW femROOT. The Impact Bold caption reads "ROOT DISAPPROVES OF / OF YOUR GOONING" Soon after, bumps are re-enabled. This leads to a spike in activity that sustains for many hours. Gooner threads still slide off. The same day, McCaptcha gets disabled for /soy/ and /nate/.

On April 7th, the sticky gets unlocked. Later, gooners raid /korea/, Shemmy's /nate/ clone, getting it taken down.

On the Sharty's /q/ board, two opposing threads are made a few days apart, both requesting certain changes to /nate/. The pro-gooner thread asks for McCaptcha to return, while the anti-gooner thread asks for a lower bump limit. Both requests are met, near-instantly.

On April 11th, Morgan Freeman and Babyjak both switch to smaller images, both 64x64 pixels and smaller than 2 kilobytes. This is presumably to optimize the upload speed during spamwaves, while maintaining their identities

Intermittent Ceasefires

Sometimes, threads may stay up for more than 6 hours, with no spam occuring. During these periods, neutral random posts may be made. Conversations may also occur during these ceasefires.

Conclusion

Over the course of the war, conflict steadily lowered to pre-/nate/ War levels. In mid-to-late April, the main anti-gooners withdrew, or at least quit avatarfagging. However, they already left their mark. The Dust War seems to have concluded, with a very low chance of reviving. No exact date can be put to its end.

/nate/ remains a NSFW board, but the environment is still inhospitable to any remaining gooners who attempt to re-colonize it. Their threads remain slidable, without recourse. They tend to stay up for several hours, but get very few replies. The sticky itself remains as a vessel for containing the history of verbal conflicts, gore, and goon material, from both of the /nate/ Wars, if anyone could ever stomach all of it at once.
